The experience! With a rental boat to the dream beaches of Florida
A very special experience is definitely to rent a sleek motorboat for a few days, preferably for a week or so, e.g. from Coralvilla, and explore the area around Cape Coral as far as the Gulf of Mexico by boat.
Not only can you cruise through the countless canals, past magnificent villas and simple little houses, but you can also experience manatee zones at walking pace.
You might also want to take a break at one of the many restaurants that can be easily reached from the water without having to pay for parking. There you can enjoy local fish specialties and a wide variety of drinks in the evening sun.
The highlight, however, is definitely going out to sea to the beautiful white beaches of Sanibel and Captiva. On this route, encounters with dolphins are almost guaranteed and make for a unique boating experience.

You can drive a motorboat in the USA without a boating license! Yes, that's right, you only need to be 21 years old, born before 1988 and have a car license. After a detailed briefing from the boat rental company, you're ready to go. But be careful, you should study the rental company's maps carefully beforehand. There are shallows, sandbanks and so-called markers everywhere, which sometimes do a poor job of showing you the way. But after a short time, you will know your way around a little and nothing will stand in the way of carefree boating pleasure.
And where you like a stretch of beach best, perhaps where you are all alone, you drop anchor and enjoy a wonderful day at the beach. But be careful here too! It gets dark very quickly and you should make your way back in good time to be on the safe side and, of course, always keep an eye on the weather.
For a week, you need to factor in rental costs of around $1,000 and it is definitely advisable to take out the SEA TOW, a kind of ADAC on the water that always helps, even if "only" the tank is empty.
At around $5.00 per gallon (approx. 3.8 liters), the fuel prices at the water filling stations are considerably more expensive than when filling up by car. But the fun and the great experiences are definitely worth the price!
